Dodge Ram Pickup 1500 SLT
Performance
Our four-wheel-drive 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Crew Cab was powered by the 5.7-liter "Hemi" V8, which cranks out a robust 390 horsepower and 407 pound-feet of torque. A mandatory five-speed automatic with manual-shift capability routes this power to all four wheels, with selectable low-range gearing. At our test track, the Ram roared from zero to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds, respectably quick given its colossal 5,740-pound curb weight. Its slalom speed of 54.6 mph didn't exactly set our hair on fire, but the Ram's ponderous handling characteristics are expected for a vehicle of this nature.
Saturn Astra XR Coupe: Performance
On the track, our 2009 Saturn Astra Coupe didn't break any records. It made it from zero to 60 mph in an underwhelming 8.9 seconds and reached the quarter-mile in 16.6 seconds at 83.9 mph. Through the slalom, the Astra's average speed was 66.4 mph. We felt quite a bit of body roll, but the car was still fairly confident and easy to drive. Brakes were average; our three-door stopped from 60 mph in 126 feet.

Comfort
Cargo capacity stands at 25.6 cubic feet with the split-folding rear seats up and 60 cubes with them down. That puts "seats up" cargo capacity at about 6 cubes more than a Porsche Cayenne, but max capacity is down 15 cubic feet compared to the X6's X5 sibling. The country-club set will find that a foursome's golf bags will fit behind the backseat. A child safety car seat cannot be placed in the rear center position, as there isn't a seat there, though it'll fit in reverse-facing mode in either outboard seat with all but the tallest folks up front.
Ford F-150 Ford Focus SES
Performance
On the move, the 2008 Ford Focus SES falls in the middle of the road in regards to handling performance. Earlier Focus models were known for their lively steering and fun-to-drive nature. These attributes aren't as immediately apparent in the new car, as Ford chose to prioritize stability and ride quality instead. This is even the case with the as-tested SES trim, which comes standard with sportier wheels and tires and a rear antiroll bar. The Focus still possesses decent steering response and grip. But drivers looking for a sport-themed small car will find driving excitement elsewhere.
